A Man’s Treasure Closet (AMTC)

NuLife is constantly on the lookout for new ventures and projects to support its various programmes and initiatives. Our most recent venture, A Man’s Treasure Closet (AMTC) focuses on establishing contact and rapport with male and female inmates who are in early release programmes (such as the Work Release Scheme, Halfway House Schemes and Home Detention Scheme) through the distribution of pre-loved t-shirts, shirts, pants, blouses and jeans as part of collaborative efforts with organisations involved in the reintegration and rehabilitation process of this population.

These clothes, essential when they start their job attachments, necessitate additional expenditure they can ill afford. Equipping them with a starter kit of pre-loved clothing allows them to set aside their frugal salaries for food, medical expenses, family commitments and personal savings. In establishing a rapport with them, NuLife hopes to prevent the onset of any mental health issues that may arise due to isolation and social anxiety they face as ex-offenders through counselling support. We aim to convey a spirit that welcomes and encourages inmates and ex-offenders to seek support from the community in the process of reintegration.

Channeling our resources and support to this population at a timely stage in self-restoration would significantly augment the sanctity of their physical and mental well-being for the long haul. We hope the community can play a part in the healing process through small acts of generosity. Here is an open invitation for all to carry out that often-postponed decluttering that you have been promising to do. The pre-loved clothes you choose to give away will put a ‘SMILE’ on these individuals’ faces and will be very much treasured and cherished in their receiving hands.

The pre-loved clothes will be collected and distributed on a periodic basis. Do keep a look out on our happenings page for the designated time periods. We are particularly looking out for small and medium sized clothes given that most ex-inmates and offenders fall under these size categories. Nonetheless, we welcome other sizes as well.

The following pre-loved clothes will be accepted in kind by NuLife Care & Counselling:

– Blouse
– T-Shirts / Shirts
– Pants
– Jeans

For purposes of hygiene and practicality, the following items will not be accepted:
